I had made a whirlwind trip to catch the opening 2011 World Cup Game between Bangladesh and India in Dhaka.
I drove around the city one day, snapping a few pictures here and there. This is just a small taste of wht Dhaka is looking like and does not do complete justice if you do not see her at night resplendent in all her twinkling lights and decorations.
To truly feel feel the spirit, passion and excitement you had to be there.

Tomorrow, I become the father of a teenage daughter. A daughter who is loving, kind, empathetic, crazy, smart, beautiful, joyous, energetic. A daughter who wants to be a writer, an actor, a producer, a director. A daughter who has given us countless joy and unbounded happiness.
Yes, she is growing up. I can’t keep her the baba’s little girl forever.
As I type this on the tiny virtual keyboard on my phone, I look forward to continue to be a part of her life as she grows up.
I will try to be the best father I can.
I will try my best to
- trust her
- get to know her
- be honest with her
- encourage her
- support her
- be a parent as well as a friend to her
- share what I know with her
- be grateful for my relationship with her
We had been in the hunt for a real camera. Today we broke down and finally got ourself a real dSLR. We opted for the Canon 60D – which is kind of a semi-pro model halfway between an enthusiast’s 550D and the pro’s 7D. Rather than the kit lens, we got the EF 28-135mm which is of fairly decent quality. Add in flash, extra storage cards, a nice slingshot bag you have a might fine set to start.
